Connectome
The provenance-first carbon and sustainability data stack: an archive, a calculation engine, and a modeling layer designed around one rule — every number carries its source, and every derived figure carries its chain.
The three modules
Soma
The archive: a standardized, fully traced library of greenhouse-gas emission factors and the unit, fuel, and economic conversions needed to turn any activity into CO2e — curated from public agencies (EPA, DEFRA/DESNZ, IPCC, and others), with every value carrying its agency, dataset, version, release date, and exact location in the source, alongside the verbatim source term.
Axon
The calculation engine: units, factors, and conversions form one cited graph, and a calculation is a path through it — the multiplication chain literally is the audit trail. Uncertainty travels with the numbers, and ambiguous unit meanings are resolved by stated policy, never silently.
Cortex
The modeling layer on top of the archive and the calculation engine.
The principles it's built on
- Provenance first. The chain from source to figure is the product, not metadata bolted on afterward.
- Estimates flagged. A modeled value is never presented as a measured one — the same discipline as the published work.
- You own the output. Like everything in this practice, what Connectome produces for you is yours to keep, run, and audit.
Where it stands
Soma and Axon are in private beta; Cortex is in design. The climate & GHG practice area is the consulting front of the same discipline, and the Atlas lists a forthcoming Soma teaser — One factor, fully loaded, a single emission factor traced end to end.
Early access
Design partners
I'm working with a small number of early partners whose real inventories and real audits shape what Connectome becomes. If a provenance-first data stack is the thing your team has been missing, tell me about your use case — honest fit assessments both ways, as with everything here.
